THE HAWKS ARE FLYING AGAIN
Hackney Speedway is proud to announce ‘the return of the seven’, well five! One interesting fact the actual march out music was actually the ‘Return of the Seven’ and not the Magnificent Seven.
The Hackney Hawks will return to the track in the London Tournament [formally the London 4’s] to be held at the Kent Kings Iwade circuit in Kent, with the hosts racing against Hackney, White City and our great rivals Wimbledon. . Each team will have 4 riders and one reserve as a normal 4TT.
There will be a one off race with the top scorers from each team who will race in a Victor Ludorum for the ‘Vic Harding Memorial Trophy’ and will be presented by Vic’s sister Beverley. It promises to be a fabulous day out, first race 2pm sharp.
Great news for those who don’t have a car! Iwade is a hard track to get to by public transport. A bus servicewill be running from the former home of the Dons Plough Lane Stadium, now called the AFC Cherry Red Records Stadium, home to Wimbledon AFC and it leaves at 10.30am. Tickets MUST be pre-booked in advance by emailing thedonsden@hotmail.com. the return fare is only £10.Theres only 70 seats available and the Dons will be giving out freebies to, so book your seat today!

This promises to be a day to remember and be part of the London Tournament when the Hawks, Dons and Rebels will once again renew rivalry.

Pictured (possibly outside the Hackney Empire in Mare Street, Hackney) in 1936, tram number 9 is advertising the Whit Bank Holiday Monday meeting at The Wick, Hackney v All Americans. Also advertised on the tram is American Putt Mossman’s Motorcycle rodeo (this was a form of motorcycle tricks and skills) with his troupe of World Champion Motor Cycle Stunt Riders.They performed their tricks and skills after the American team lost 66-27 to Hackney!
